ABOUT THE ARTIST

Growing up in West Chazy, NY, Dennon spent many hours exploring the outdoors as a child. This adventurous and curious mindset led him to study at Clinton Community College, where he was expecting to major in environmental science. After taking his first oil painting class in 2014, Dennon changed his major and graduated with his BFA in Painting from SUNY Plattsburgh. Dennon then worked with SUNY ESF immediately after graduation, teaching Plein air painting, and created a series of Adirondack paintings for the Newcomb Adirondack Interpretive Center. This early influence in his work came from being in the heart of the Adirondack park, for a full year being completely immersed in the rugged landscape. The northern Adirondack mountains of New York then became the focus of his work and continue to be his main subject today. Dennon now lives and has a studio space in Schuyler Falls, NY.
