Aug 16, 2021 — A new public art project in downtown Malone this summer is meant to add a splash of color to the downtown landscape. The mural, nearly two-stories high, was designed by Malone artist Michael Hart, and is being painted by Brendon Palmer-Angell.
The mural is on the west side of the building that houses the Downtown Artist Cellar and despicts a flock of geese taking off from the Malone Rec Park as they head north. Local students will participate in projects this fall related to the geese theme in science, social studies and art classes.
Todd Moe spoke with Michael Hart, Brendon Palmer-Angell and Jennifer Bilow, who manages the Downtown Artist Cellar space. All three artists are hoping the mural will make viewers pause and think about connections to the natural world and each other.
